BIO: Rick Scott is a Republican senator from Florida. The Navy veteran and former Florida governor was sworn into office on Jan. 8, 2018.
Scott has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, and a J.D. from Southern Methodist University. He enlisted in the Navy in 1970 and served for 29 months, part of which was spent on the USS Glover as a radar technician.
In the 1990s, Scott co-owned the Texas Rangers, making him a partner with fellow owner and former President George W. Bush. He was also the CEO of healthcare company Columbia/HCA until 1997.
Scott served as the governor of Florida from 2011 to 2018.
