BIO: Conor Lamb is a Democrat representing Pennsylvania’s 17th congressional district. The former Marine and prosecutor was sworn into office on Jan. 3, 2019.
Lamb comes from a politically oriented family. His grandfather spent 16 years in Harrisburg, Pa., as a legislator, and his father has been Pittsburgh’s comptroller since 2008.
Lamb received both his undergraduate degree and a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He was an active-duty member of the Marines from 2009 to 2013 and is still a major in the Marine Corps Reserves.
Prior to his political run, Lamb worked as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Justice Department’s Pittsburgh office, prosecuting cases involving violent crimes and drug trafficking. He is currently the vice chair of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.
